Scales, Scales, Scales, they are a necessary part of learning an instrument. I have had students tell me they’re boring; how many different ways can you play them? I will admit that in all my years of taking piano lessons, I said the same thing. STAY TUNED, I have just the thing for that. I will be running a summer camp exploring learning the scales in fun ways. It’s called “Scale Detective and Shakedown.”

OK, so the student KNOWS the SCALE… what NEXT...Let them keep playing it over and over until they play it on auto-pilot...with the very real risk of errors later, under pressure? ...OR, you could CHALLENGE them to a 'SCALES SHAKEDOWN' practice game, getting them to play the scale in 66 different ways. Help students really FOCUS on the notes they’re playing and LEARNING the SCALE inside and OUT, to complete BULLET- PROOF security!! There are some fun games we’ll explore. The camp will also have some rhythm reviews and information on how to practice to get ready for a performance.
